Paige Deville has said that she has been left terrified by death threats after she sensationally quit Channel 4’s Gogglebox, last month.

The 25-year-old decided to leave the popular show, after falling out with her mum who she regularly appeared with, taking aim at Gogglebox producers as she announced her decision to quit.

Speaking out about being on Gogglebox, Paige was damning with her reasons for leaving, saying it was “due to long hours of filming, restrictiveness, control of our actions and opinions and zero aftercare support”.

Since then though, she has revealed that cruel trolls have targeted her online with a number of death threats being received, which has left her fearful for the future.

Speaking to BirminghamLive, Paige said: “I received a lot of positive messages when I left the show from people online.

“But I also received a lot of hate. Really nasty stuff. One person said ‘just kill yourself.’ I have lots of hateful messages like that.

“This is why I spoke out like I did about the lack of aftercare support shown by Channel 4 bosses. You need advice and support to deal with it. I am not a celebrity just a normal person and it is difficult.”

She continued: “This is the kind of abuse you have to deal with.

“I am quite a strong person and I can deal with it the majority of the time. But there are times when I do feel down and I read that and it is just horrible.

“Some people may not be in such a good place mentally and it could send them into a very dark place.”

Among those who have hit out at Paige since she left the show was Happy Mondays frontman Shaun Ryder, who starred on the celebrity version with his bandmate Bez.

The 59-year-old singer did not hold back when speaking to The Express: “What the f**k do you need support for on f****g Gogglebox for f**ks sake.

“Is she a bit of a snowflake or whatever they are called or woke?

“You f****g turn on the telly and watch f****g five minutes of something and have a laugh. It’s f****g not dramatic is it?”

A Gogglebox spokesperson has stated: “The welfare of contributors – past and present – is of paramount importance and robust protocols are in place to support contributors before, during and after taking part in the series.”

Paige joined the show in 2019 and starred for four seasons alongside her mum.

She has now revealed that she no longer speaks to her mum Sally after a family fallout.

Writing on Twitter, Paige revealed: “To clarify, people thinking I fell out with my mom over gogglebox, My ‘mom’ is an absolute disgrace who I wish to never speak to again due to a serious family issue NOT about a TV show.”
