Singer Grimes jokingly suggested she was going to head to space to set up a lesbian commune following her split from boyfriend Elon Musk
Grimes says she’s off to space to become a lesbian after her split from Elon Musk.
The singer, who shares one-year-old son X Æ A-Xii with the SpaceX billionaire, joked she was going to start a commune for lesbians on one of Jupiter’s moons.
She seemingly cracked the joke in response to SpaceX’s $178 million contract with NASA to help them reach Jupiter’s moon Europa in a bid to find out whether or not it’s inhabitable.
Europa is one of Jupiter’s 79 moons.
Speaking about her split, Grimes, 33, told Page Six : “I’ll be colonizing [one of Jupiter’s moons] Europa separately from Elon for the lesbian space commune.”

It was revealed last week that the couple had broken up after three years together.
Elon, 50, told the site at the time: “We are semi-separated but still love each other, see each other frequently and are on great term.
“It’s mostly that my work at SpaceX and Tesla requires me to be primarily in Texas or traveling overseas and her work is primarily in LA. She’s staying with me now and Baby X is in the adjacent room.”
Grimes has previously spoken of her desire to colonize Mars.
She wrote on Instagram earlier this year: “Ready to die with the red dirt of Mars beneath my feet.”

She also said in an interview that she’d like to “have my consciousness live in some kind of humanoid vessel that can speak and move freely, and then that body can go to Mars and other planets with my mind inside it.”
Tesla CEO Musk has said his mission is to have humans living on Mars on 2026.
Elon and Grimes were last seen together in public at the Met Gala, although she walked the red carpet alone and met her then-boyfriend inside.
The pair sparked mass discussion last year when they revealed their baby’s unusual name.
The inventor sent Twitter into meltdown when he announced that he and Grimes had named their new son X Æ A-12.
But it was later said that he wouldn’t be able to legally give the moniker to his child.
According to TMZ, the couple weren’t legally allowed to put X Æ A-12 on the birth certificate, despite them obviously being allowed to call their baby whatever they want.
A supervisor at the Department of Public Health Vital Records Office, Los Angeles was said to have told the publication that it’s illegal to include symbols and numbers in names on birth certificates in the state of California.
The law states that only the letters of the alphabet can appear on the official documentation, meaning X Æ A-12 simply wouldn’t be allowed.
They got around it by changing the final part of the baby’s name to Roman numerals.
