The Material Girl hitmaker has hit out at the social media app after her photos were removed after her nipple was visible.
Madonna, who plastered a series of saucy shots on Instagram, is fuming after they’ve been deleted for breaking nudity rules.
The 63-year-old singer shared the provocative photoshoot on Wednesday, but her nipples were on show for some of the snaps.
She has hit out at the social media site for its stance on female nudity in a lengthy caption: “I’m reposting photographs Instagram took down without warning or notification…..
“The reason they gave my management that does not handle my account was that a small portion of my nipple was exposed.
“It is still astounding to me that we live in a culture that allows every inch of a woman’s body to be shown except a nipple. As if that is the only part of a woman’s anatomy that could be sexualized. The nipple that nourishes the baby!
“Can’t a mans nipple be experienced as erotic ??!! And what about a woman’s a** which is never censored anywhere.
“Giving thanks that I have managed to maintain my sanity through four decades of censorship…… sexism……ageism and misogyny.
“Perfectly timed with the lies we have been raised to believe about the pilgrims peacefully breaking bread with the Native American Indians when they landed on Plymouth Rock! God bless America,’ concluded the songwriter before adding the hashtag ‘#artistsareheretodisturbthepeace”
Instagram’s Community Guidelines state that nudity is not allowed and the female nipple is included as nudity – but the male nipple isn’t.
There are exceptions however, including breastfeeding, giving birth, after-birth moments, health-related situations or an act of protest.
The hitmaker’s series of images stunned fans, leaving some “cringing”.
The images show the Material Girl singer posing around a bed whilst wearing a bra, thong, fishnet stockings and heels.
In two of the photos, the chart-topping performer can be seen lying on a bed with her left nipple exposed. Another, taken from behind, shows her kneeling in front of the bed, with the thong leaving little to the imagination.
They attracted criticism on the social media platform, with people describing them as “ridiculous” and “very sad” – with both Madonna and the post referred to as “embarrassing.”
One person said that the Grammy -winning artist “must’ve lost her dignity under the bed,” whilst another wrote: “Having self respect at this age will suit you better.”
Others compared the photos to “pornography,” whilst it was also mentioned that her six children could see the photos, with someone writing that they “must be so proud” of her.
