A house with a toilet at the foot of the master bedroom has gone on the market for £289,500.

The semi-detached property on Benton Street in Hadleigh, Suffolk, caught the attention of baffled property browsers for its quirky addition after it was listed last week.

It also has two bedrooms, one bathroom, a kitchen and a living room, adorned by an industrial feel to the interior décor.

The charming period cottage has warm interiors. The only baffling piece of décor is the uncovered toilet placed at the foot of the master bedroom

The cottage boasts a cheerful pale yellow exterior and is located in the perfect spot, a walking distance from the High Street and close by some countryside

The end-of-terrace home has cheery yellow exterior and an exposed brick rear, looking onto a well-kept and luscious garden.

However, property hunters have spotted a unique feature facing out onto the bed in one of the bedrooms.

In a unique twist on the classic en-suite bathroom, a toilet has been fitted against the wall next to an olive-green sink and bathroom cabinet.

To make the morning routine even easier, a curved shower has also been installed facing towards the bed.

The property was shared via a Reddit thread, with the caption having a fun dig at the strange set-up, reading: ‘Excuse me darling, I just need to go to the loo.’

Estate agent Hizzy Property listed the house and described it as a 'smart and charming period cottage, exceptionally well presented with a beautiful garden'

A humoured viewer replied to the images with a simple comment: ‘Ewww!’

Estate agent Hizzy Property listed the house on Rightmove but failed to mention the bedroom and bathroom mixed room in their description.

It said: ‘A very smart and charming period cottage, exceptionally well presented with a beautiful garden.

‘The property has been remodelled, updated and enhanced exceptionally well to make the most of today’s modern way of living yet still retaining the ageless charm and character of a period home.

‘The cottage includes a lovely generous sized main reception room with plenty of natural light, and space for a dining table and chairs.

Less excitingly, the period property does also have a toilet which isn't at the food of a bed. The suite includes a shower over the bath

‘The superb kitchen which overlooks the garden is fitted in a stylish theme and includes built-in appliances.

‘There is a lobby to the rear of the property which has a stable door leading out into the garden and a door into the modern and contemporary bathroom suite.

‘Upstairs there are two bedrooms with the main bedroom offering a very impressive vaulted ceiling of nearly 12ft in height.

‘For those who enjoy walking, the open countryside is literally only a few minutes walk away and the thriving High street is also only about a ten minute walk away.’

The period cottage also features wrought iron radiators throughout and an exposed brick chimney.

Whilst sinks and tubs in bedrooms are not a rarity – particularly in Victorian-era homes – toilets are a little more unusual.

As the innovation of indoor plumbing became more accessible in the Victorian age, it became a customary addition to homes.

If a house was originally built without indoor plumbing, it was one of the first renovation features on a homeowner’s list.
