South Lanarkshire residents to have their say on climate response strategy

South Lanarkshire Council is inviting locals to have their say to help shape the climate response.

An online survey which will help the local authority develop their five-year Sustainable Development and Climate Change Strategy is underway and available for all to take part.

The strategy will operate from April 2022 to March 2027.

Development work has already included a series of online focus groups drawn from across South Lanarkshire in order to gather people’s views and suggestions.

The online survey is aimed at adding to that by creating the opportunity for all local residents to have their say.

Chair of Community and Enterprise Resources Councillor John Anderson told Lanarkshire Live : “We are really grateful to everyone who took part in the focus groups their opinions, suggestions and insights have been absolutely vital to the team developing the strategy.

“This survey will be available online until the end of this month (September). We all have a part to play in meeting the challenge of climate change and supporting a more sustainable future so it is really important to us to hear from the people of South Lanarkshire.”

The council’s current Sustainable Development and Climate Change Strategy is due to run for another six months and covers the period to March 2022 when the new five year strategy will be due to come into operation, covering April 2022 to March 2027.

Not all themes that will be included in the strategy are included in the survey as it focuses on those identified as being of most importance to the focus group participants.

The survey only take a few minutes to complete and can be found here.
